    Yeah Walters is much more suited to the Meninga role, which is why I'm okay with him taking over the QLD team. I don't think he'd fair well at club level because, as others have said, cunt seems to be missing some brain cells.

    It has seemed a constant puzzle to me since Jason Taylor left Souths that he hasn't been an NRL coach. He is easily a better option than at least half of the Current Head Coaches in the NRL.

    I don't really know much/anything about Mat Head's coaching credentials, but Taylor as first grade coach and Noddy as NYC coach is exactly what I would've gone for if I was running the club :laugh: So good.

    I probably wouldn't have, but I can definitely understand it. I'm a big believer in making players see out their contracts, because lord knows they make you keep paying them when the situation is reversed and you don't want them anymore, but Austin had proved to be a real first grade quality #6 the club just couldn't fit in, and he was going leave in 2016 anyway.

    I would have tried to convince him to stay, but wanting out of his contract wasn't a dick move on his part at all - it wasn't a cash grab or a dummy spit; it was just a case of a first grader wanting to play first grade. I definitely would have tried to find a spot for him in the 13, even if it wasn't #6, and tried to sell him on that, but if he still wanted to leave after all that I'd find it hard to say no.

    From what I've heard, Taylor held a similar opinion to me on all that. Board were cunts about it in general though.

    Nah, myth. Might happen in a couple of years but I'm pretty sure it's part of the TV rights deal with Foxtel at the moment so they can't cancel it yet.

    Fair enough; though I reckon it should be an under 18 comp personally. 19-20 year old should be trying to crack QCup/NSWCup.

    I think I'd probably go the other way. Lots of players leave the game if they hit 20 and don't get an NRL contract; I think we're losing potential professional rugby league players with the age restrictions. They just don't want to take a pay cut at that age as they see it as a backward step, and decide to pursue other careers.

    I suppose the alternative would be to follow through what you've said, but divert a chunk of funding to state cup sides and increase the salary caps in those competitions so that pathway didn't seem like a regressive career path.
