http://www.espnscrum.com/southafrica/rugby/player/165132.html Will he take SA to the next level? Looks ten times better than Morne already. Just a youngster at 20 years old but was the standout in the IRB under 20 tournament. The question on him is defence. But surely he will learn. Is the world cup next year coming too soon for him to learn what he needs to in time?
He'll do ok, then they'll revert back to Steyn for some unknown reason, then they'll pick the next baby bok flyhalf. Rinse repeat. Same happened to Lambie.
Get the hell in behind him boys. He looks better than Cruden at the same age. Lambie is an attrocious player and has no business being on your bench. I think you are backing him Killface from your post. Morne Steyn has been a terrible 1st 5 of epic proportions. Anyone who offers themselves as a replacement needs all the support they can get.
I don't really watch rugby so I can't comment on Lambie All I know is that lots thought Lambie looked the real deal when he first came onto the scene. I dunno if it's a good idea dumping teenagers into world rugby so quickly.
Hasn't Lambie been messed about with a bit too much? A bit like Berrick Barnes - he plays all over the shop - off the bench. Probably doesn't know what day of the week it is anymore.
Yeah they were super eager to find him a spot somewhere because he was some kid prodigy. Just worried the same will happen to Pollard.
Lambie use to be the goods tbh (as in a somewhat decent player) but as mentioned, played around with too much.
Oh yeah, big time. He's been groomed for Bok flyhalf duty since primary school. Pollard has it all, he could become the player Frans Steyn should have gone on to be, had he not peaked at 19. Recently watched some matches from the 2009 B&I Lions Tour and the Tri-Nations that year. Steyn used to be good, it's sad really. Also, a terrible defensive liability. Personally never rated Lambie, he's a safe option, but having the Sharks forwards provide him front foot possession he's generally had an easy ride. When he doesn't he disappears, as evidenced multiple times at Test level. He doesn't get enough distance on kicks, both touchfinders and from the kicking tee, to be threatening at Test level. I was really hoping Goosen would make the step up to Test level, but injuries have messed up his progress badly. I believe he still has the potential to be a world class flyhalf, he certainly has more attacking nous than any flyhalf SA has produced since Honiball. Unfortunately, he's made of glass.
I was expecting Pollard to become a good player but not this quickly. What a performance. No way SA win that game with Morne Steyn in charge. Loving the resurgence of Lambie as his understudy but it was Pollard who won that game. They would have won by more but they started using Le Roux at first receiver instead of Pollard. SA could have a super star in the making.
Bad call on Lambie - he is an excellent rugby player as he has shown in the Super 15, he just needs stability as everyone else has mentioned. I am not completely sold on Pollard yet. He undoubtedly had a good showing on the weekend, but remember that during the course of the year he even played second fiddle to Jacque Louis Potgieter at the Bulls. This was one performance, and frankly his first where he appeared to be a class player at senior level. He still has A LOT to prove, but yes, he is showing stellar potential.
