Yeah what Eds said. Knocking on, for example, isn't dangerous in the slightest. It's just that the game doesn't encourage it, as knocking balls around makes for a scrappy-feeling game.
Just another example of the superior game that is Rugby League. KHunt needs to come home to League ASAP. Broncos should be throwing a 500k a season carrot imo. Imagine if they got KHunt. Even if you didnt get Thurston for 2014 u can't discount a spine of: 1.Hunt 6.Wallace 7.Prince 9.Macca especially with the athletes surrounding.
Rule 1 of the Rugby Union discussion forum is to not have any of the shit-fights about Union vs. League. Anything more like OldMate's post will be infracted. If you want to slag off Union, fuck off to the League forum.
Forgetting that it is legal in Rugby League, I think this rule is bollocks but I can somewhat see the benefits in cleaning up scrappy play. Don't see why it could not just be a 5m scrum instead though. Hunt could easily have grounded it.
Tapping a ball out of bounds makes a scrappy feeling game, but half the players running into an orgy after every play doesn't? And this isn't league/union crap Heef, this is on topic (sorta)
The thread is fine, but any shit posts about how shit Union is because the rules aren't the same as League's is unacceptable.
It's a good rule. One which I would have thought most would be knowledgeable of but I guess not. Regarding the whole it would happen heaps of times a game thing is wrong. Since it's against the rules players don't do it with the exception of a few instances. That being said there's less kick/ chase/ opportunity to score tries in that fashion in union since teams don't only have 6 sets so don't have to try something creative. The opposite rules for the two games are appropriate IMO due to that reason.
Yeah, the issue I have with it is that if Hunt tries to ground it, fails, and the ball rolls out afterwards, he's actually going to get a 5m scrum for the same act of forcing the ball out of play. Two quite similar actions with different results. Trying to make a referee figure out the intention of a player rather than purely ruling on the results of an action is a near-impossible road to go down IMO.
No? I'm not saying union is shit, I'm saying the rule is shit. And was seeking clarification as to if this is ok to post about, as I didn't want to post and get an infraction.
