This team is desperately lacking an english player.

Benkenstein is pretty much as close as it gets. Well, he's at least as English as KP or Trottski, surely?

Now, the question is - will Joshi be a better selection than Powar? Joshi's FC bowling stats are better, and he's been in cracking form this year for a 40 year old and he still offers plenty with the bat to come in at #9. Definitely one to test out in the trials.

Joshi was a gun pick for when you took him. I had forgotten about him. I believe you took him right after I said there weren't any spinners better than Botha left, just to prove me wrong. :p

Actually, your comment to Boobs spurred me on to find someone. It was a bit of luck though as I didn't actually think he was still playing.

  6. Jabba HJ Bots

A lot of all rounders in this team.

  7. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

van Zyl & Alam won't get a bowl. Benkie is pretty unlikely too as well.

Always good to have guys you can chuck the ball to break up long stays. Even if you dont use them that often.

In real life, yes. Not sure whether there is any kind of benefit of a change of bowler in the simulator that would replicate that, though.

Well if it is the cricsim one then i think it might. it is how nino gets his wickets etc. :shrugs:

I ran an experiment on that and concluded that there is indeed a benefit to having lots of bowling options in ITC. Sometimes bowlers just have randomly good or bad days; having lots of bowling options increases the likelihood of finding one on a good day. Just like real life, really. It's such an excellent program; I'm in awe of it sometimes, third innings hilarity whenever Marcuss sims notwithstanding.

Oh. I see. So there would be a point in having Benkie, Alam and van Zyl as 7, 8, 9 bowling options - though, presumably, they'd only get a trundle when the oppo are already in excess of 300-odd.

  13. Cribbage RG Cribb

    Indeed.

If you had a 6 and 7 that did really well in the first innings (well,as well as you can do after getting to 6 and 7 in the first place) would they bowl earlier on in the 2nd or are the orders v strict.

Sorry if thats an incredibly stupid question

Randomly good day != randomly good match.

  16. Baxter MJ Deane

    3rd innings was random tstl.

Might be worth looking at your matches from last season Heef. Suggestions on how I can sim 'better' won't be unappreciated. Not sure exactly how much your 6/7 bowlers bowled last time round. I can remember Jayasuriya having one randomly good game at least.

I just realised I typed problem instead of program. So dire.

  18. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Plus, you typed "program" instead of "programme"

  19. Cribbage RG Cribb

    No-one types programme anymore tbf.

  20. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Are you telling me to get with the programme?
