2025 NRL Season

Penrith have been slow starters over the last few seasons, they’re just a worse side this year so paying for it more. I don’t believe they will finish last but what was most shocking last night was their organisation in good ball sets, never seen them play so much ad-hoc footy and never seen Cleary playing 3 passes wide on a shift so often.

I think pushing Talagi back into the centres and playing a more natural ball player at 5/8 at least for the next few months would benefit them enormously.

I also don’t think the stop start nature of the game created by all the sin bins and 30second bunker checks on every potential piece of foul play is helping teams like the Panthers who really thrive on lots of live ball footy.

Signing Galvin should be a high priority for them IMO.

 

Every year I see a new interpretation of forceful high contact I always think back to this hit that was play on.

 

I'm surprised more clubs haven't taken advantage of the mid air tackle rule, I genuinely thought when it was brought in that we would see a significant increase in tries from kicks.

It obviously isn't as easy to execute as it feels it should be watching the game.

Still a rubbish rule though.

 

Similar to the Keary/Walker combo I think they'd beat up on 90% of NRL teams but struggle to manage the big games when not on the front foot.

 

Iro put down was the worst of the lot.

Apparently there are only 4 refs they rotate through the bunker now and one of those is Kasey Badger which is concerning.

At least they have stayed out of general play this week, only one sin bin and for a professional foul.

 

Such a shame the Panthers have fallen off a cliff this year, we were so close to all Qld sides going 0-5 at Suncorp this weekend.

Trust Gerard Sutton to ruin what’s otherwise been a head high controversy free weekend with the literal last play of the round.
