    Speaking of players not worth anything like the money they're on. Kieran Foran - 1.1-1.2 mil per season. Since going to the Dogs at the start of 2018 their win rate with him is 37%. Without him it's 36%.

    Obviously the Dogs have been a shitshow since 2017 and yeah he's had a lot of injuries to come back from but jeez you'd hope that sort of cash would buy you more than a 1% improvement.

    Yeah this one is right up there. He's playing a bit better than Hunt right now, but Hunt's performances last year for example were basically on par with Foran's (it's only this year Hunt has gone from inconsistent, overpaid and largely meh to outright 'got the yips' IMO), and moreover at least Hunt is actually available for selection more than 20% of the time.

    It's not just unlucky for Canterbury that Foran is injured all the time either. The Warriors were unlucky with that. When Canterbury signed him they were fully aware of it.

    It's either Foran or Boyd for me. Probably still Boyd because he's legitimately worse than no reserve graders to the point where if he was injured it'd be actually be a good thing.

    Those numbers surprise me, I do feel like they're a better team with him there than with him not there.

    Agree it's a shit deal given he can barely get on the park.

    The worst one might be Taylor, though.

    Bird also up there but in his case it's not really his/Brisbane's fault. It wasn't like he was super injury prone at Cronulla.

    Yeah if you sign a fit player and he keeps getting injured after he arrives it's largely just unlucky.

    They did spend too much money on him to begin with though, not to mention telling him he'd be in the halves.

    I find it poetic that Darius is finishing his career as an impotent centre at Brisbane, it's exactly how he started out. I think I called him the worst player I'd ever seen in first grade. Totally passenger.

    If you'd watched a handful of games in 06, then just tuned back in in the last year, you'd swear you were watching replays.

    Surprised me as well tbh but yeah 10 from 27 with him, 9 from 25 without.

    After he got injured playing for NZ at the end of last year, James Hooper wrote an article saying he's the worst big money signing in the history of the game.

    Foran also had the whole walking out on Parra thing as well. A 3.5 million dollar 3 year deal was just fucking stupid in all ways.

    There's not enough 1 year prove it deals in the NRL, especially considering the cap system is pretty well built for them and the game is rather simple without highly nuanced strategies that differ from team to team.

    Lockdown your key/rep level players to long-term deals, extend your young guys with potential before they break out and command more, perhaps a few longer contracts for guys who are known good characters/hard workers and fill out the rest of the roster with 1 year deals.

    Looks like they were on a bender last night and thought this would be a walk in the park. Very lethargic.

    Making Brisbane look like they know what they’re doing in defence.
