I don’t understand why Cleary is being touted as a certainty. For once I agree with Rothfield. I mean I get the whole persist with a bright young halfback but they did it with Pearce. Blind loyalty is different from loyalty to those who repay your faith.

He did nothing in Origin last year and his club form has been garbage.

In saying that though I don't know who would be a better option. Reynolds might be playing better but he's clearly an inferior product, I still don't feel comfortable about picking Keary and Pearce should be blacklisted for life.

    Maloney/Walker imo

  4. Lukic L Popovic

    Walker Pearce

Pearce is gonna win an origin series and you're all gonna like it.

Picking two 5/8th's doesn't sit right to me.

I guess Maloney does have credit in the bank but hasn't his form been even shittier than Cleary's?

Walker/Keary is by far the best halves pairing for NSW

  7. Magic AJ Parker

Luke Keary ruled out of SOO1.

    Big blow for NSW.

Pearce Dally M and State of Origin MVP

    it's happening

  9. Magic AJ Parker

He's been ruled out with a hamstring injury

  10. AVA T Delonge

    Reynolds injured as well

    Walker/Cleary/Maloney it is I guess.

Apparently Hunt will be named at 9 and Morgan in the centres. Good shit if true. We can’t afford to make too many selection errors.

Walker/Pearce is their best option all ibhurirs aside.

    Pearce looks ready.

  14. morgieb MC Burridge

    He's injured.

Still wouldn’t pick Pearce even though I’d probably back him to actually play well this year for the most part. He will always have that disaster factor when under pressure.

Keary is a big out. Reynolds means nothing. I’d be happy we’re I a Blue that he can’t be picked.

Halves are Cleary/Walker. And Wighton will be the utility.

  17. AVA T Delonge

Yeah Cleary/Walker is the best option, happy with that. Not sold at all on Tupou on the wing though, and Wighton as the utility is a waste of a spot

Cleary is a fucked selection. I'd sooner have picked Reynolds. Maloney had to be picked if fit though.

    I'm still yet to see much substance from him. He's getting picked purely because;

    - He's young and we must persist
    - He's got a great attitude
    - He defended well last series
    - He was in a winning team last series

None of those reasons down to his ability to run a footy side or create points.

    Frizzell off with concussion.

You'd have to think having been there last year under Freddy they wouldn't rule him out like they did with Keary.

I get the concussion protocol means he wouldn't train all week but as a second rower his role isn't overly complicated.

  20. AVA T Delonge

How long is the actual length for concussion protocol? 5 days? 7 days? With the extremely long turn around there is no real issue I'd reckon.
