He's neck and neck with Chambers imo. That was a brilliant play from Will....if only he'd looked in field or Cronk had a voice louder than prepubescent guinea pig.
Well done Cronulla. I despise that oxygen thief Fifita, but he played well. Gotta praise Cam Smith and the Storm though for their effort.
Tbh I can handle Chambers failing to capitalise on that because of how intense it was and it really was right on the edge of his skillset. Welch had the ball wrapped up but Harris bumped him off.
Yep. 190m (and about 300m across field but still lol), 40+ tackles with 0 misses. No penalties or errors. And 9 tackle breaks. He was clearly the most difficult player on the field to tackle and Melbourne could not handle his unorthodox play at all. That alone would be enough but you throw in scoring the premiership winning try when they were struggling to convert the field position into points...
Cronk and Smith were awful. All they had to do was get a repeat set to build pressure, never seen them kick that badly ever. Jack Bird was immense though in his runs, anytime they were close to starting a set within their 20 he charged over the advantage line and made every set a roll on.
Sharks did a real number on Cronk's kick pressure. But yeah the kicking from those two (and Green) was mostly pus. It was either well short or well long.
I don't wanna say he's an unsung hero cause there has been talk about him but I was very impressed with Matt Prior this year.
Am I the only one who thinks Jesse Bromwich can be a bit shit in big games? He's the most consistent but he's not aggressive enough to step it up when needed. I think they really missed Nelson asofa-solomona out there.
Matt Prior is fucking immense. He's been gun all year but he's taken it to another level in the last quarter of the season. He was a big part of our streak. His defence and line speed was the catalyst for a lot of the dominance we had in that time but he's backed that up now with ridiculous attacking numbers for props, not bad for a bloke who played centre and now prop.
Reckon Flanagan could feel a little hard done by not winning coach of the year. I mean they did win 15 straight and the first premiership in Sharks history. Stuart did a great job but they had a much easier draw.
I've gotta give the bloke a big wrap. I rubbished him bad early on in his career but looking back a lot of that had to do with the roster: He made the finals and almost top 4 with a halves pairing of Jeff Robson and Jack Bird ffs. Gets the squad he wants and takes us too the house. He gets my undying love.
I don't know about that. They've got experienced older heads like Lewis, Gallen and Maloney but it's still a youthful side full of young guns who haven't hit their peak yet. Graham is only 25. Skies the limit for the 21-year old Holmes and Bird. Townsend, Barba and Fifita are only mid 20's. As are Bukuya and Beale. If they can get Cook I think they'll be a force again in 2017.
Yeah Tohu Harris's defence was poor. Maloney cut straight through him nearly leading to Lewis scoring under the posts. And then he failed to break from the scrum at all when Barba scored. Vunivalu the same. That cunt was out of position all night. I'm amazed the Sharks didn't exploit it more. He was so far in-field virtually defending in Chambers's pocket. Maloney burnt him once with a great cut-out but that's where they should've been attacking the most.
Remarkable the stats of when Melbourne have trailed by 8 or more in games. You'd think with the talent they would be good with the comebacks but they have one of the worst records this year when behind on the scoreboard at halftime like they seem to shit the bed more when having to chase.
