2014 National Provincial Championship (ITM Cup) Thread

    It starts this weekend.

    Looks set for another Cantabrian victory, possibly Auckland to come 2nd. Wellington look to have lost some real experience and I understand Toomaga-Allen, Ardie Savea and Riki Flutey are all injured for the start of the season (Toomaga-Allen and Savea out for the season, I understand). Not sure who Wellington will be playing at first-five now.

    I'll give a transfer update when I get the chance.

    Oh - and is anyone keen to take part in a picks game?

    I'm thinking pick the winner and pick the margin.

    e.g. Wellington vs. Waikato - Waikato by 10

    Whoever gets the closest to the margin gets a bonus point with an extra bonus point for nailing the margin spot on.

    So, the maximum points from a single match is 3.

    Also - would it be good to include Heartlands matches? They start a week on Saturday

    Thursday 7.35pm Taranaki v Counties Manukau
    Friday 7.35pm Southland v Bay of Plenty
    Saturday 2.35pm Otago v North Harbour
    Saturday 4.35pm Canterbury v Auckland
    Saturday 6.35pm Wellington v Waikato
    Sunday 2.35pm Tasman v Hawke’s Bay
    Sunday 4.35pm Northland v Manawatu

    A dude I know (went to school with) started at lock for Wellington in their pre season win over Canterbury.

    Surprised he didn't get picked up by the Turbos tbh.

    I'll probably opt out if its going to be pick the margin. I've never been any good at picking margins.
    But I will still follow the thread though and pipe up with comments. Cheers.

    More than 50% of the Wellington players are injured. Pretty youthful squad listed for Waikato. Going to be interesting......hmm.

    Had big money on Counties so the draw was a bit of a shame (bet refunded). Was expecting some nice tries but a good game nevertheless.

    Well I hope they get their big names back because this mob are not up to NPC standard.

    The halfback kahu in particular may be the worst 9 I have ever seen at this level.

    I am glad you saw that too. And yes good try,

    Wellington coach to be fired if this game is anything to go by.

    I think the best explanation must be Rego's that they are missing key players.

    Wellington's injury list is ridiculous. Fa'atonu Fili was going to be playing for Poverty Bay this season, Wellington had to put in an emergency call to him after Flutey's injury. That's how buggered things are.

    yeah I haven't seen rugby like that since the days when Auckland put the shield up against sides like east coast bays from the 5th division.
