    Fuck, he was on $800k?
    In that case, good riddance.

Rumours Brisbane are going to give Payne Haas a 10yr contract at a million per year.

I think Payne Haas is going to be a tremendous player once he fixes his defence up but geez I don't know about making him your highest paid player for the next decade.

Most clubs only seem to be able to afford 1 player around that price tag and then another slightly lower at 800-900k... surely you've got to save that kind of money for your spine positions unless you have a once in a generation type forward and he's not that.

I get it 2yrs ago when you think the salary cap might get a big hit soon you give a guy even money across the 10yrs thinking by the end you are getting good value even if you pay slight overs to start off with. But I don't see that being the case for the next few years yet.

I do think Haas is a once in a generation player, and I've got no issue with the deal in a way. I'd prefer to offer him 1m/yr for a 5-6 year deal, or 750-800k for a 10yr deal. Once he fixes his efforts on the goal line, which I put a lot down to shit bench rotations, he is pretty easily the best prop in the game.

Nah we're gonna get pretty hectic inflation in Aus. Salary cap should be around 15m halfway through the deal.

    RTS officially gone.

    Best step I’ve ever seen.

In 5 years time, $1m will be a smaller piece of the pie.

You're optimistic, I don't see where the exponential growth similar to the TV deal we signed in 2017 will come from...

PVL has already extended the same deals on the same money with Fox and Nine got a discount.

Between 2018 to 2022 the cap will have risen 7%, that would keep us inline with inflation.

Think the game is going to have to suck it up and go through some years of consolidation.

Very happy with the Connor Watson signing, we haven't had a genuine depth option for Radley for the past 2-3 years let alone a rotational option option on the bench so think this is a really good pickup. I'm surprised the Knights let him go, he hasn't been as successful at lock as I thought he would be but he's also shown really good signs in a side that's played a lot of footy on their back foot this season.

Apparently he took less money and 1 less year to leave Knights for Easts. Pretty strange seeing all the shit off the field he does with Ponga.

I think it's a good move, watching on the weekend him at lock is a bad fit there. I was saying to my step dad he should go somewhere where he can get in as 5/8 as he's not a bad player.

Off the bench for Roosters and cover if anyone goes down a good move by them too

Yeh something obviously wrong at Newcastle that he was calling Trent Robinson for advice about heading the ESL but ended up happily signing for less dollars and less years in a squad position where he'll play less minutes.

Conveniently or coincidentally depending on what side of the fence you sit on its just emerged that Ponga is eligible to talk to other clubs from November 1 as his two year extension option is only activated if Newcastle win a premiership before by 2022.

What do Broncos fans think of Darren Lockyer?

I'm amazed he's come out and said he'd never seen Sam Walker play until he was at the Roosters. I don't know what his exact title is but I'm sure he's one of the key voices on their recruitment decision making team..

Not like this is a kid they plucked from nowhere either, always had a fair amount of hype around him. Jobs for the boys is always a risky business and they're now with Ikin (head of football dept), Walters (head coach) & Lockyer (head of recruitment?).

I read this at work, but read it differently. I thought his player options were only player options if they won a comp, so basically he could only leave on the condition they win a comp.

I've not been a fan of him for a long time. Lockyer has been absolutely putrid and has only kept his job as he was Jesus on the field.

To add onto the shithouse recruitment, we are letting Bullemor leave who has more potential than all the coconuts they will keep.

Panthers have given Edwards an extension. I would think that means they'll shop Staines around.

Roosters getting Ponga and Tedesco ending up back at Tigers feels like the natural order of things.

Titans signing Isucko makes me very sad

Farnworth has extended and Cobbo is close to resigning too. Good to see the Broncos holding onto their young guys.

Awesome to see that they have been able to keep these guys together.
