  1. Rocks DN Boland

And that win was over a pretty terrible Bulldogs side.

  2. Paddy P Orr

I think he might but it may take a season or so to rebuild the roster. No doubt a lot of crap he will want to get rid of.
    Good point.

These basic errors are what's fucked us all year.

Tabuai-Fidow I am really liking. One of the few highlights for us this year has been him.

I don't think Penrith are a better side for having May in the side.

I know I'm getting old when at a point now seeing Gavin Cooper retiring.

  6. Cribbage RG Cribb

He's a good call because he covers all injury/HIA eventualities. He should get 0 minutes more often though.

  7. Tartmaster AJ James

In what fucking world is a tip on pass not a pass?

  8. AVA T Delonge

Yeah it's a weird one. Apparently Kasiano was called for a knock on a few years ago from a tip on, but video refs have ignored it since?

  9. Cribbage RG Cribb

If you never gain possession and propel it forwards it's a knock on rather than a forward pass. It's a bit of a weird one but aside from the fact that it wasn't close to going forward the ref got the call of "knock on" rather than "forward pass" right.

The dumb thing is dumb Parra fans thinking they were screwed by the "tip on is a not a pass" thing. They were screwed by Perenara saying it went forward; that's it. A tip on not being a pass actually helped them by enabling them to challenge it at all, otherwise it would have just been called a forward pass (which you can't challenge) and Brisabane would've had the feed.

100% would be happy with that. I do get the logic of him being there just whenever they throw him on in the back row I feel we lose a bit.

I guess giving him those minutes keeps him fit/getting a touch though. Will be interesting to see if they rest a few next week and give Burton, Staines & Whare a trot.

Staines just did his hammy. Can't believe Whare isn't playing first grade when you look at all the retards other clubs name.

    i concur

Now NQ is in a rare position where just once I want them to lift and they can hand Broncos their first spoon. If ever I want them to lift it's this week because Dogs won't beat Penrith.
That said I can't see Cows winning that game either.

It's a tough one with him not coming back in at Penrith, I can see why Cleary hasn't brought him back in. Such a good vibe around the joint and the team going great guns you don't want to upset the apple cart, I still think he's class though.

Will be interesting if he ends up somewhere else next year, 2021 is his last year of a 5 year deal, with an option for 2022, but if he's not getting a first grade gig you'd think he'd head elsewhere and Penrith will want the money to keep more youngens. They may well have got him cheap though, signed the contract early 2017 on the back of one game in 2016, so maybe a long term deal was really good value.

I think they use him really poorly when they do throw him on at 13, he should almost be like a 3rd half for them and open up the field either playing at first receiver and pushing Cleary wider or playing as a 2nd receiver on the right edge to Cleary. But he seems real uncertain of his role and ends up just standing in the middle of the field like a spectator in good ball and then trying to play like a more traditional lock forward in yardage sets.

Games like last weeks against Parramatta I thought he could’ve come on and really opened up Penrith’s attack as they were very left side focussed and weren’t getting much luck but again just didn’t seem to add anything in good ball.

Yeah it's a total waste. I'm still not a massive fan of using back rowers like you'd say, I prefer halves just to play both sides, but at least it would show a reason for him taking the field. Whenever he comes on they just lose a bit of oomph up the middle. I'd rather them throw him in the centres/halves for 20 minutes at the end once games are closed out if they're wanting to get some time into him because he'll be a genuine 0 minute man in finals barring injuries.

I'm a bit concerned at just how much they're using that left edge, especially when their right side has so much potential. Risks becoming a bit too predictable up against the good sides, especially when Edwards isn't great at chiming in to a backline if they're spreading it back. It's mitigated a bit by some Korisau craft around the ruck with the Fish and Tamou rolling forward, but the last two weeks it's felt 90% left when attacking.

Actually in saying that, it might feel so left side dominant because they're making so many breaks/half chances down there. Perhaps if it were breaking down more they'd be having a crack down the right.

  18. Magic AJ Parker

That's definitely part of it and its true too for teams like the Roosters and Storm who have Munster and Keary playing on the left edge being their creative outlets.

The difference I think for Penrith is they're very reliant on Cleary linking with Luai as a combination. It makes it very easy for defences to spot which way they're going as Edwards location really doesn't mean anything. Reading it and then stopping it are still two very different things, double teaming Kikau doesn't always work... like you said they still get a lot of joy down that left edge.

I just wonder what that looks like against the better defensive sides. Even just stationing Tyrone May in good ball on a right edge would put some doubt in their mind.

Fantastic win that from the Tits. A side no doubt going places.
