Yeah about 16 hours after everyone in the media told us he was signed, sealed and delivered to Canterbury, Penrith held a press conference and announced his signing lol

  2. Magic AJ Parker

    I've always like Korisau.

    Good signing for the Riff.

  3. Magic AJ Parker

There's been absolutely no movement of any real note for the 2020 season that is going to shake up the competition.

The biggest signing to date would be... George Williams or Apisai Korisau?

  4. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Any big names still off contract?

  5. Magic AJ Parker

Alex Glenn is probably the most notable player still off contract.

    Sam Williams... Zane Tetevano...

Oates still isn't signed for next season.

Broncos shopping Bird and McCullough. Macca will probably end up in England.

  7. Magic AJ Parker

Feels like Seibold is just gonna ship a whole lot of players out of there and then claim they're in rebuilding for the next 2 years to buy himself some time.

There were already signs of that this year.

  8. Lukic L Popovic

Broncos surely wouldn't let Oates go?

  9. AVA T Delonge

I don't think Broncos know what to do. There's no one to really sign in the off-season and they are stuck with Boyd and Bird atm, so do you just write next season off and get on the recruitment drive? Other teams could possibly get away with that but the Broncos will struggle to convince their fans/board of the idea imo.

  10. Magic AJ Parker

Yeh they will re-sign Oates for sure.

Getting rid of Jack Bird to accommodate Darius Boyd in the centres doesn't make any sense.

  11. AVA T Delonge

Well if you want to fuck both off but only one player wants to leave/teams would only want to buy one of those two players, I guess their hands are tied.

Sure it does. Other teams are willing to take Bird off their hands for at least somewhere close to what they paid. You can't just 'get rid' of Boyd if he's under contract and no-one wants him.

This could in theory allow them to sign a decent half if they can convince a club to release one, which is what they desperately need.

  13. Magic AJ Parker

There's no real need to release Bird though. It's not like there's better talent on the market currently which they can go out and purchase with freed up funds and his contract expires next year anyway so if he truly has deteriorated as a result of his injuries they're not going to be left with him rotting on the books.

I also don't give Boyd a chance of succeeding at centre. I think at this point you just have to cop paying him half a mil to sit in reserve grade. Shifting him around the backline this year did nothing for Brisbane this year, it's a pointless exercise.

Best case scenario Brisbane go out and pick up a player like Sam Williams, Jackson Hastings or Ashley Taylor who would all be cheap as chips at the moment.

Assuming he isn't affected by injury Bird is the 2nd most creative player in a squad that is severely lacking in point scoring ability.

I reckon Tom Dearden will be the next big thing. I don't think they need to change much, just stick with him and be patient. Obviously they won't be premiers next year. If Dearden does develop well they have the right elements with a big pack and a skillful 5/8th to bring it all together. I'd be putting Bird in the 2nd row. Their pack does need a bit more mobility considering they play at Sandcorp. This knee jerk reaction is stupid, I'm surprised the Broncos even managed to make the 8 with how many key injuries they had.

Has anyone ever had a season as good as James Tedesco? Dally m, best origin player, shoe in for clive churchill medal and premiership and probably will get the international world's best player.

  16. Magic AJ Parker

That's a jynx if I've ever seen one.

  17. Alec AD Funkotron

Seibold rates Dearden super highly, but he's only just going to turn 19 at the start of next season. Probably still a couple of years away. There were rumours about Croft being a done deal. I dunno about him though, or if it's still even likely to happen or what.

I think Bird either has to play left centre (the only other options are Boyd and SHITbasaki) or fullback. We've got a few too many 2nd rowers right now - Fifita and TPJ are the two best options IMO, and then there are Glenn and Gillett too.

  18. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Bird should be nowhere near the pack. Fifita/TPJ should be the edge backrowers for years to come. I'd be fine with Bird/Dearden in the halves next year, and target Ponga when he is off contract. Ideally Brisbane should sign Sezer to play 6 with Dearden for 1-2 years, but it's looking like it will be Croft who is signed.

  19. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Gillett isn't an option on an edge anymore, IMO. He pretty much has to play lock next year or he doesn't make the starting side.

    Lodge
    Turpin
    Haas
    Fifita
    TPJ
    Gillett

    Seggy
    Offa
    Carrigan
    Flegler

Although 3 props on the pine is a waste, considering Siebold plays Haas for 70ish minutes when he should be limiting it to 55-60 until he gets the lazy misses out of his game.

they're too big. one of them is fine but having both is too hard to balance, they'll dominate one week then play shit the next. you don't want to overstack your side with islanders, they are supposed to compliment the more composed white players. i think this is why broncos are no chance in any forseeable future. having haas, fifita, tpj etc all on the field at the same time is a defensive nightmare but because they're often so good in attack they won't get rid of them and they'll be stuck with that problem for a decade.
