Re-signing players vs buying up half a dozen rep players over 2 years.

He didn't say we wouldn't sign him, just that we hadn't yet when reports had come out.

Brett Morris has come out and said he's happy not to be guaranteed a position and to be in competition for a spot in First Grade so it's clearly something that's been discussed.

I think Brett Morris is the best winger out of the 3 of them so it'll certainly be interesting. I don't see Manu losing his centre position, I think Manu has suffered largely by being stuck on Cronk's edge.

What does re-signing or signing have to do with cap space?

  4. Toolman TR Man

how's manu not going to miss out? do you really think they will choose him over the other 3? and morris would make the best centre out of those 3.. his literal twin plays centre lol.

  5. Magic AJ Parker

Manu won't miss out because none of the other 3 would make better centres than him.

I reckon Ryan Hall would make the better centre too fwiw.

Josh Morris is a shit centre, should've stayed a winger.

Suaso Sue is a good pick up for the Dogs

Long way to go before they can every worry about competitive next year at the rate they're losing players though.

Even Aubusson is a better centre than the three wingers you've ended up with. Playing one of them in the centres would be retarded IMO; one of them is obviously going to start in reserve grade.

Hall isn’t particularly good any more imo. Few years late on trying his hand in the NRL.

  9. Toolman TR Man

But that's also retarded. I highly doubt they signed Hall and Morris with any intention of playing them in reserve grade. Considering they dropped Manu to play Matterson in the centres last year and this year he's simply been solid in the centres which isn't up the the roosters high expectations leads me to believe that he's going to be dropped. I don't see any other way they're going to go about it.

Signing them all was retarded in the first place, but playing one of them in the centres while you had at least two other better centres either playing 15 minutes in the back row or playing reserve grade would just exacerbate the retardation.

  11. Toolman TR Man

Well they're trying to buy a premiership whilst they have Cronk and they don't think Manu is good enough so they wanted to replace him with a big name and they expect that big name player to be good enough to adapt. Only logic I can see in it.

Has there been anything more on Crichton backing out of his Rooters contract to stay at Souffs? I reckon the Rooters would jump at the chance. He hasn't really been able to replicate last year and IIRC he was signed for a fair chunk of cash?

Trying to win a premiership despite* having Cronk.

This is going to stir a few on here up but I genuinely reckon, or at least the only wake it makes sense to me is that the club found out Fergo was leaving so they approached a few wingers and were surprised at what they could get Morris & Hall for.

Keeping in min one is a 32yr old winger who is happy to fight for his position in order to be part of a side who can win a premiership, the other is a 31yr old winger who just wants to test himself in the NRL before he retires. I genuinely don't think either would have cost a lot and just because of that the club probably unintentionally ended up buying some depth in a position we have always struggled for depth in.

It just doesn't make any sense otherwise if either of them cost a lot of money.

No chance, there's so much more to the Crichton story than just signing a good player. It was personal for Uncle Nick. Big boy ego's were damaged.

Crichton has come out quite a few times now to say it's all bullshit too so I don't see it happening.

  15. Cribbage RG Cribb

This makes more sense than any other theory IMO.

  16. Alec AD Funkotron

Didn't Chrichton cut one or two fingers off to rush back from injury or something retarded? Could that be why he isn't playing as well?

Probably watching too much Game of Thrones or something and thought it was cool, probably one of the super gay recent seasons.

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

I think Crichton has been fine this year, honestly. He's had less impact because Souths go left so much more often than they go right, but his defence has improved quite a bit and he's still been dangerous when they've gone to him.

  18. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Disagree. He’s been highly ineffectual and very hot and cold in attack. Some weeks he doesn’t run hard at all and gets bent backwards repeatedly.

    how good's manu now
