Paul Kent and Gus Gould applauding the refs performance in Game 1. I'm sorry but the ruck was a joke. Both sides were allowed to get away with far too much. Low penalty counts favour NSW so of course they're gonna be happy with it. The 10m at times was far too short as well. When they panned out, Cecchin had them back 8m at times.

We can definitely pick a better side on paper and he wouldn't have been in my Game 1 side nor would he be in it next year, but he did really well for us in the opening exchanges defensivley, I just don't know how you can justify dropping him to blood a untested rookie.

I'm also against picking Vaughan as the 4th prop in a side with Woods, Klemmer and Fifita. That's 4 high volume players in a 160minute prop rotation.

This makes little sense to me

Makes no sense. The fact that Vaughan can play long minutes doesn't negate his impact ability - which is enormous. QLD were very lucky to not have him coming off the bench in Game 1.

In terms of balance in my opinnion it doesn't make sense to pick another high volume player as your 4th prop. As opposed to an impact player or a player who would be better suited to playing an impact role.

Woods, Fifita and Klemmer will all average ~45 minutes each which leaves you with 25 minutes for your 4th prop rotation. I think you're going to get a better return on those 25mins from a power runner like Junior Paulo as opposed to Vaughan.

Vaughan certainly wouldn't be bad pick by any means though, he's done a good job coming off the bench at club level in the past.

I'd still rather have Vaughan play 25 minutes than any of the other props not in the side (or Jackson).

Vaughan may play big minutes, but as MF, Cribb (and you, oddly) have alluded he'd still be a fantastic impact forward in a 25 minute burst. In fact I think he'd be absolutely sensational knowing he just had 20-30 to go hard.

Early reports that Oates, O'neil, Thaiday, Lilyman & Myles have all been dropped.

Gavin Cooper, Valentine Holmes, Billy Slater, Jarrod Wallace & Coen Hess to be selected.

  9. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Yep. And Guerra still there. Sigh...

One of them will be recalled when Wallace gets rubbed out.

Apparently Glasby is on standby for Wallace? What the fuck?

Tim Glasby eh? Dunno about that tbh.

Corey Oates has to be considered unlucky.......

  16. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Yeah Oates is a victim of circumstance to a certain extent. Happy with the changes. It should've been done before game 1. We wouldn't have won and I still don't think we'll win game 2 but it needed to happen.

Don't know about Papalii starting up front. Glad to see Hess and Holmes in there.

  17. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Absolute joke that Goates got dropped.

  18. Mr Fourex MR Fourex

So you consider it a reasonable decision to drop Oates for Holmes? I'm still about mehhh about Holmes tbh. I will admit I haven't studied him that well, but what advantage do we get with him in the side over Oates?

  19. Alec AD Funkotron

So Boyd will play left centre, meaning Holmes will be on the left wing. So they just dropped Oates for Holmes, nothing to do with playing on the left or the right. And Oates was one of our better players in Origin 1 too. Not that I'm complaining, Holmes is a superb back, but the whole loyalty thing just went completely out the window.

  20. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

There is no sense to dropping him. None. With how shit our forward pack is, he should be first back picked.
