Am I the only one that thinks the swapping of sides in the draw between week 2 and 3 is ridiculous?

The minor premiers beat 4th and than have to play either 2nd or 3rd before the grand final. Seems absolute craziness simply to out any repetition.

Only if the loser of 2/3 beats the winner of 6/7.

Every system has its flaws. I don't think there is anywhere near enough reward for finishing first. If we're going to have a system where half the teams play finals then 1st should play 8th and if they win, go straight into the GF. That's contingent on a fair season draw though, which we also don't have.

Top 5 is the only way the top team is rewarded but they won't have none of that due to the television rights being so lucrative.

It's to avoid the same match in week 3 as week 1.

Yeah top 5 is best imo. It's a joke that teams who lose as often as they win can play finals football.

Yeah but that's what Taylor's disputing. He doesn't think avoiding a repeat warrants a potentially tougher run for the minor premiers.

 It's cute that Julian is all excited because he gets to finally look up details about finals football

I thought this too. He deserves his moment though.:p

5th is a huge advantage over 6th. You get 8th at home. Then most likely 4th away. And then usually 2nd or 3rd away in a prelim. 6th gets 7th at home. Then 2nd or 3rd away, then 1st away. That is immeasurably harder.

Having repetition in the final series would be dire, however I've heard good arguments to suggest that it should be the reverse of what it is - ie. 1v3 and 2v4 in Week 1 when the games aren't elimination, and then if there were no upsets the swap at the end would have 1v4 and 2v3 as the elimination games. I think I agree with that argument tbh (but not yours).

    I like that compromise/argument tbh.

Haven't had to worry how the top 4 works for quite some time haha. In know the bottom 4 scenarios pretty well though

With a top 8 system, this is the best we can hope for. I think it's fair.

In genuinely think this is the best chance for a 5 - 8 team to win the comp. I'm still pretty hopeful of the Cows finishing in 4th but if they and the Broncos are 5 and 6 I can see both making a push from the bottom half.

Reckon Melbourne are shoe-ins to make the GF. Don't really want them too though :p Short of another Cowboys/Broncos GF, I'd love to see a totally different combination. Sharks vs Penrith ftw. lol Or Raiders vs Titans.

If we somehow made the GF, I don't want it to be against the Sharks, if we lose to those shunts we'll never live down letting them finally win the comp.

No match thread for the game here but thank you Panthers/Matt Moylen for keeping our season alive. Thank you thank you.

Lol. You cunts are done, luckily you didn't go double or nothing with MF over the Warriors making the 8.

I hope Canberra make it far for entertainment value but at the same time I hope they lose because such an inconsistent team doesn't deserve to make it too far. I really can't imagine them handling the pressure.

If he didn't pay a grand what are the chances he'd pay two? Even less I'd say.
