If Scotland vs Japan was played both teams 1 week off. I would put my life savings on Japan winning.

    Lol.

    a) It's a ridiculous suggestion because Scotland are much better than Japan, regardless of break time

    b) I would surprised if you have more than 50 cents life savings to risk

Did you see the Japan v Scotland game? It was close until the 2nd half where it was obvious tired legs started kicking in.

Given Japan beat Samoa and Samoa nearly beat Scotland I don't think it's that far fetched. I realise Samoa played average in their Japan match but even so.

    Yes I did.

    45-10

It was 12-7 at HT. Even 12-10 by like the 45th minute. Tired legs saw the blow out. If the game had been able to continue like the first half, Scotland would have had their work cut out for them. Japan did beat SA after all....

  6. Fiery GR Smith

Yes but they're both inconsequential teams so why are we discussing them? lol

  7. Rego RS Hutchinson

    I wouldn't say inconsequential.

Depending on pools for the 2019 RWC, Japan could push for a qf spot at home. 4 years is a while and they'll spend those 4 years having a Super Rugby team as well. They'll only get better.

Japan had their moment. Scotland had their moment in destroying their moment. Let's move on to the big dogs.

    Porch cleared

This!! They could end up in a pool of death, in fact as hosts is it not part of the RWC agreement that you get put in a pool of death???

  10. Howe JHF Howe

'pool of death' is going to keep happening as long as we are surprised to have more than 8 teams worth talking about like it's 1991

it's a brave new world out there

One things for sure Japan will be keen to keep their coach and you might see an influx of second tier players from Australia and NZ with Japanese passports.

  12. Squeaks ZW Poole

If Japan keep improving then we could have two pools of death in 2019.

  13. Roaddogg AJ Izett

Im actually already quite excited for 2019 the way this world cup is unfolding

Meh ideally Scotland/ Argentina are really the 8th/ 9th teams (no order) so one should have really been replaced with one of England/ Aus/ Wales. Then you wouldn't have a pool of Death scenario as much.

If we go on your fuckwit theory. South Africa Beat Scotland. Japan Beat South Africa. Scotland beat Japan. Based on those results you can look at it this way..... Japan Beat South Africa, Scotland beat Japan so theory would presume Scotland would beat South Africa but they didn't. So to say that Scotland is a much better than Japan, regardless of break time is absolutely full of shit. Japan were losing i think by 2 points with 15mins to go. You can't tell me a bruising 83min encounter with a South African forward pack 4 days earlier did not play on the legs of the japanese.

Go shove ya forehead up ya ugly mrs twat and pop back out with some fucking common sense.

The idea that Japan are the team they were at last world cup is now misguided.
The beat two teams this world cup and had the draw been more favorable perhaps may even have progressed.

It a sign these second tier nations are not content making up the numbers and nor should they.
I like the idea of the risk of playing them is not injury but actually losing to them.
    It's good for the game.

  17. Rego RS Hutchinson

They actually won 3 games. Only lost to Scotland. Any other pool and a loss would still see you through....their lack of BPs didn't help them nor did the draw.

  18. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

I don't think they'd have progressed from any of the pools tbh. They wouldn't have beaten Argentina, Ireland or France imo. Maybe the latter would be their best chance because les Coqs are so random and tend to do poorly when they're expected to win

Could have added Japan to the group of death to make it even deathier!

  20. Starris ER Starris

    Arrrh the USA... that's right!

    That reinforces the point!
