Yeah I think so too. He just had no idea what he was doing. The club was still burdened with the huge wages of crap players he bought right up until this season.
Thought he's got the sack at like 10 Bundesliga clubs? I understand he's seeking a job abroad but never struck me as a great coach
Yeah don't know what they were thinking sacking him to bring in Hughes. Almost an identical boob to England replacing him with McLaren. That was Shinawatra though wasn't it?
He re-signed at Ulm, Hoppenheim and Schalke (2nd time). Sacked at Schalke (1st time), Hannover and Stuttgart. His CV in Germany is pretty solid (ordered from earliest to latest) - Won the Intertoto Cup with Stuttgart, got them back into the top 8 in his first season, though had big struggles in his 2nd season and sacked (nearly relegated) - Got Hannover promotion for the first time in over a decade, and put them into the mid/lower table in Bundesliga in back to back years, but was sacked as they were in danger of relegation in the 2nd season - Back to back promotions with Ulm to the Bundesliga despite being a small club averaging under 10,000 fans with little money. - Back to back promotions with Hoppenheim, who then led at the half way point in their first Bundesliga season, could well of been a serious threat to win if Ibsevic didn't tear his ACL. Though obviously aided with financial assistance, the Bundesliga performance was unbelievable. - Took over Schalke, while it was a short spell, knocked out a far superior Inter Milan team to make the semis of the CL for first time in Schalke history, also won the Pokal and Supercup in his 6 months in charge, then stepped down suffering from 'exhaustion'. Some ups and downs, but specially his more recent spells with Hoppenheim and Schalke were pretty impressive, don't think it's any surprise Schalke had a pretty good season in 11/12 either, laid the groundwork for it. I'd put him ahead of Martinez easily. Though I must admit don't know as much on Periera, seems to of done a solid job at Porto, but if the compensation for Martinez is a problem, surely that would rule Periera out?
Hoffenheim played some fucking brilliant stuff back then too. Might even trace Germany's current style back to the emergence of that team.
Not really though. He won't actually miss a game for three years. It's a good verdict for Spurs really, they really needed backup on the wings last season.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...gue-2013-14-what-wont-happen-next-season.html heh. Yabo proves an instant hit, despite only knowing one phrase in English (“Demba’s tweaked a hammy, but fingers crossed he’ll train this afternoon”), and lasts just under a month in the job before resigning when a bit of “harmless banter” from John Terry goes badly wrong.
