Disappointingly, Youssou N'Dour withdrew his sponsorship for the team after failing to make the knockout stages. For someone who knows nothing about cricket, he shows a very aggressive attitude towards abject failure.

As such, we have appointed a new sponsor for the coming season in a deceased Kiwi actor's travelling band of minstrels.

Whats with you and weird names?

  3. Hunter AD Hunt

'Sif you'd bat god at 8.

  4. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

I'm very anti naming teams in the American style.

Albie and Ramesh will swap, actually.

  5. Hunter AD Hunt

    Albeh to bat 3.

  6. Athlai JJD Heads

Was hoping this would have more Bruno.

    Disappointed.

Virat Kohli & Fawad Alam sign in. Looking pretty solid - certainly a more modern team that Youssou N'Dour were last season.

    S1/S2 Picks Comparison

    Code:
    S1 S2
    Albie Morkel Makhaya Ntini
    Peter Siddle Chaminda Vaas
    Jesse Ryder Jesse Ryder
    Friedel de Wet Sanath Jayasuriya
    Virat Kohli Brad Hodge
    Fawad Alam Mark Davies
    Irfan Pathan Irfan Pathan
    Heino Kuhn Heino Kuhn
    Stiaan van Zyl Steve Tikolo
    Dale Benkenstein	Dale Benkenstein
    Ramesh Powar Ramesh Powar
    Zander de Bruyn Peter Fulton
    Shoaib Malik Neil Wagner

Actually, thinking that in many places we've got an upgrade on our picks from last season so far. Obviously in career terms, Ntini & Vaas are > Morkel and Siddle, but those retirement penalties won't be crippling us this season.

I think that you were pretty silly for not keeping Hodge tbh.

  10. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

He was definitely the next on the list for retention, but I thought we really took him a bit early given that he's retired from first class cricket and will presumably be hit by a small penalty.

  11. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Stiaan van Zyl in and completes the XI for now.

  12. Baxter MJ Deane

Morkel's a better batsman than Powar isn't he?
Feel free to trade me De Wet as well

  13. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

That's a mistake with the additional benefit of stirring Huntay up a little.

And on de Wet, I don't think you've got anyone that we'd like to trade at the moment.

  14. Hunter AD Hunt

    GIVE ME ALBEH YA ****.

  15. Farny AP Farnsworth

I think you should give me Morkel for Rashid. He misses his brother, and you need a better spinner :p

  16. Hunter AD Hunt

I think both of you need to give me my Morkels.

  17. Fungus K Fung

    First class stats:

    1. Heino Kuhn (+) (45.62)
    2. Fawad Alam (55.54, 34.34)
    3. Jesse Ryder (5/6) (44.30, 29.34)
    4. Virat Kohli (57.59)
    5. Stiaan van Zyl (43.06, 33.83)
    6. Dale Benkenstein (45.05, 34.79)
    7. Albie Morkel (4) (44.24, 29.97)
    8. Irfan Pathan (3) (31.01, 28.99)
    9. Ramesh Powar (6/5) (29.26, 29.44)
    10. Friedel de Wet (2) (16.38, 23.50)
    11. Peter Siddle (1) (15.29, 28.85)

    12. Zander de Bruyn (40.37, 38.96)
    13. Shoaib Malik (33.59, 30.01)
    14. Mohammad Wasim (35.49 - averaged over 50 for the last few seasons)

  18. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Looking ****ing good to me. And now we've got that monster Mohammad Irfan too, we've got all the backup we really need. Might go for a backup spinner though.

  19. Cribbage RG Cribb

Mohammad Wasim was a very astute pick; I hadn't realised he'd finally started to score consistently domestically. Funnily enough, I was actually watching a replay of an old game on Foxtel in which he was dismissed for a golden duck when Fungus posted that pick up. At that stage though he had an ODI average over 40 and Ian Chappell was lauding his ability to bat under pressure and rescue his team from the mire (right before he was the middle man of a hat-trick).

Anyway, I hope he gets a game. (Y)

I only vaguely recall him playing for Pakistan, and I guess at the time it was a bit of an odd selection, but he's really kicked on in the last few seasons to become a good international player. How do I know that he would be a good international player? He's not being selected by Pakistan.
