It doesn’t make them liable, that’s nonsense. The game is at risk of being sued regardless but tinkering with new rules put in place to protect players by recalibrating interpretations when they’re still going to be far harsher than the previous status quo does not make you liable.

If they keep it under 50 they should get the two points imo tbqh

Pretty sure all the medical opinions on this are that lids do absolutely nothing outside of protection from cuts and gashes.

Yeah I do. They're one of only three sides who can make it afaic. Those losses will mean little come finals time. They're a far better side than what they've shown lately.

Anyway, I was talking about Penrith. As I said pre-season, they would improve; I didn't see them being this good. But you and most others said they would decline.

Will Souths even finish top 4?

Yeah main use is to prevent cauli ear in union scrums and rucks/mauls. Absolutely no use in rugby league.

These are the comments surrounding the current high tackle issue that really concerns me

"Last week a journalist asked the NRL for a breakdown on the causes of failed HIAs this year. They couldn’t answer.

It took highly regarded Brisbane physiotherapist Brien Seeney just four hours to analyse every concussion case this season on video.

Turns out players making high tackles were not the major cause.

In fact only 32 percent of concussions were on ball carriers. A staggering 57 percent were defenders."

I have very little confidence that the NRL have gone into this with any kind of strategy. PVL last night was saying he was doing it to avoid government intervention... the messaging seems to be changing by the hour.

The better question is; is there another side in the NRL capable of making the top 4?

Roosters are cooked with injuries, Manly would need Tommy T to at least play in 10 of the next 13 games and considering he's got SOO coming up that's a bit of a stretch & Canberra are self-destructing.

No one has really emerged from the rest of the pack either, Titans just don't really give two shits about defending, Newcastle looking more like a bottom 4 side and Sharks/Dragons/Warriors are all just battling along with no real signs for optimism.

Storm & Panthers just levels above everyone else and we probably won't truly get an idea of how they are tracking this season until they play each other with close to full strength 17's as I don't see anyone else even pushing them short of them just having an off-day.

"The Bulldogs are $21 outsiders with the TAB, equalling the second longest odds since the Western Suburbs Magpies ran out against Melbourne in round 23 in 1999 at $31."

If Trbo stays fit, I think Manly finish 4th. Their draw up until round 20 is so easy I don't see them losing a game even without Trbo.

This week is a big test for the Rabbitohs if they want to hold top 4, playing Parramatta without RCG, Dylan Brown & Niukore. Rabbitohs back to full strength so no excuses not to get the job done or at the least be highly competitive if they're serious about top 4 this year.

Niukore is back, Arthur just has him on the bench. If he doesn't replace Blake in the lineup, Souths have no excuse to lose whatsoever if they want to be considered competitors.

Surely he will replace Blake in the lineup. You can't come in, have one of the worst games of all time and then hold out the bloke you were filling in for the next week. Just insane.

I'm not sure if Niukore was technically keeping Blake out of the team given Blake was injured for at least part of the season. All the Arthur talk whilst Blake was out was that Niukore would slot back into the second row post-injury. Having said that you are correct in that it would be fucking insane if Blake plays come Saturday even if that was originally the plan. He is fucking god awful. It's impressive he manages to fuck up both our attack and defence almost singlehandedly.

Would be even crazier given how Papali'i and Cartwright have gone this season. I don't think I'd even pick Niukore at full strength anymore if the centre spots were properly filled.

Yeah that was pretty much the context of the conversations given the backrow had been tearing up. Everything has fallen in to place to fuck Blake right off without disrupting the rest of the team, so if Arthur doesn't take it, it'll be next level dumb.

Wayne dropping Su'a is a real weird one. Makes me think he is 100% gone from Souths next year.

He's always been loose as fuck defensively. As soon as the guys around him lose confidence in their line he's gonna get exposed.

    Ffs Cows, how?

Just when you think they've completely shit the bed.

They are probably my favourite team this season.

Lol They're hard to watch because on one hand first half they tear it up, 2nd half appear to shit the bed then find a way to steal it late. Holmes would have nailed that kick from over halfway.
