So what is the story with James Roberts leaving souths?

    Aaaaand my latest trade theory/idea:

Roosters flicked Flannagan, didn't go for benj. Could they potentially look at getting Maloney back for a year?

I think I remember reading the the SBW-wolfpack deal is all over. Bit of talk around Boyd cordners head falling off, could Roosters Jag Sonny Bill for one more year if they still believe they're in a premiership window?

The old squad thing was overdone by the media who in their inability to actually analyse the Roosters short comings in the back end of the season looked for something so general at the surface level.

At the begining of the season it became pretty clear Robinson was going to promote Billy Smith(20), Kyle Flannagan(21), Sam Verrills (21) & Lindsay Collins(23) into regular first team players. It would've also been Victor Radley's(21) first full season starting in his actual position. 3 out of those 5 ended up doing their ACL's before Round 5 which is just really shit luck. So they went out and bought Josh Morris & SBW to help plug some of those holes, naturally this brought up the age of the playing group pretty dramatically but neither were the reason why the Roosters struggled.

Next year at full strength the Roosters go in at

    1. James Tedesco (27)
    2. Daniel Tupou (29)
    3. Josh Morris (34)
    4. Joseph Manu (24)
    5. Brett Morris (34)
    6. Luke Keary (28)
    7. Sam Walker (18)
    8. Sio Siua Taukeiaho (28)
    9. Jake Friend (30)
    10. Jared Warea Hargreaves (32)
    11. Boyd Cordner (28)
    12. Angus Crichton (25)
    13. Victor Radley (22)

    14. Sam Verrills (22)
    15. Isaac Liu (29)
    16. Lindsay Collins (24)
    17. Sitili Tupouniua (23)

The Morris brothers definitely pose an immediate issue with both likely retiring at the end of 2021, however keeping in mind Josh Morris was originally signed as an injury replacement there's already a ready made replacement for him.

I think the only argument that could be reasonably made around an ageing side or "having too many oldies" is that Taukieaho, Liu, JWH & Cordner are all likely to be hanging up the boots over the next 2-5 years and it's something that will have to be closely managed but that's an issue down the track, not so much now.

All very good points. I hadn't actually seen it in the media, but I don't really follow any on the NRL media, was my own lazy thinking.

Hope Radley can recapture the form he showed early, he looks an origin player through and through. I don't think many opposing centres would look forward to lining up against Manu either.

I actually thought they may have tried to offload JWH this year.

Any great insights in to the Aloiai situation? Is it just that he's been offered big money to join Manly on the back of them losing Fonua Blake and Tigers are just having none of it?

    Yep.

NRL have to bring in a rule that says you can't break a contract to sign for more dollars. Agents have way too much power.

I've seen people saying that the club gave him 24 hours to accept the contract extension he was offered, which pissed him off. Pretty dumb move if true.

  9. Lukic L Popovic

Nah. So they offered him a healthy upgrade and said they'd like to know the next day. Was never a take it or leave it.

lmao James Roberts is such a Tigers signing.

  11. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

    Glass houses bro.

  12. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

It's only a Tigers signing if he is on 500k+

If they got him for under 250k, I reckon it's a decent signing.

I actually agree lol. It just feels like they'll pay him his normal wage. But if he is actually on the cheap it could be an excellent move.

In other news, Sironen went to the Warriors. Don't know why we let him go, unless we're gonna try Murray on an edge again.

  14. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

With Arrow on the way, Murray will definitely be used on an edge.

  15. Cribbage RG Cribb

Didn't want to stand in his way of a long-term deal on big pay apparently.

For a team with fuck all second row depth, Souths sure don't seem too bothered about keeping the ones they were actually using (Sua aside). Sironen, Lowe and Johns all gone, Cartwright unproven, Murray experiment failed miserably.

After Murray on an edge was such a disaster early this year I was thinking Bennett would use Arrow as a prop. He'll almost certainly be forced into using Murray on an edge as it stands, for large segments of the game if not the full 80. Crazy.

What's the go on Bayley Sironen. 6 foot 1 95 kgs - good ball distributor. Can play lock or second row. Some of us Warriors fans, me especially are hoping this is the end of Jazz in a Warriors shirt except as a depth injury cover.
    Do you guys rate Bayley?
Since we signed our coach Brown recruitment is happening more swiftly than it did under SK. Real competition for places to get into our 17 from a forward pack perspective now. Maybe looking like this

    1 Sheck
    2 Fusitua
    3 Aitken
    4 Hiku
    5 Ken
    6 Kodi
    7 CHT
    8 Tanua Brown/Kane Evans
    9 Egan
    10 Fonua-Blake
    11 Katoa
    12 Harris/Murchie
    13 Sironen/Harris

    14 Lawton
    15 Murdoch Masilia
    16 Leeson Ah Mau
    17 Murchie

    Reserve Depth
    18 Kane Evans/JTB
    19 Jazz
20 Ratuva (He is a 21 year old 6 foot 5 wing who can absolutely fly. Massive raps on this dude. Will be a good thing if Ken or David get injured to able to see Ratuva play.)

Warriors faithful are expecting a finish in the 5-9 area next year from a ladder perspective.

  17. Magic AJ Parker

Flegler re-signs for 650k a season after knocking back the Bulldogs 800k a season offer.

Two clubs who just seem intent on continuing to fuck their salary cap.

  18. Magic AJ Parker

Honestly wouldn't surprise if he used Arrow in the 2nd row. He surely doesn't go back to Murray again.

  19. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

It's insane money. Flegler has potential, 650k a year is for the elite front rowers in the comp, he isn't even good enough to start for Brisbane, who just got the spoon.

  20. Cribbage RG Cribb

Despite the fact that the Murray experiment failed miserably early in the season, he actually gave him game time there again in the back end of the year but just avoided the controversy of it by naming him at 13 and doing some late reshuffles. I think he's gonna have a second crack at it.
