Jack Wighton supposedly rejected Canberra deal worth 750k a year.

Have to think it's got more to do than just money because that's already overs IMO.

  2. Julian BJ Taylor

That's a very odd opinion. For mine it's definitely unders given the current salary cap and dearth of NRL standard halves.

Dont rate Wighton at 6. Flash in the pan season imo. He has virtually no creativity.

  4. Magic AJ Parker

They'd be hoping for some serious improvement from him on this season. 10 try assists and 10 linebreaks from 26 games is a pretty ordinary output from a 5/8.

Anyway sounds like it has to do with the fact that his old agent negotiated his current deal and there are issues with how much he's taking as commission/way the deal is back ended.

  5. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

I heard the last year of his deal was around 950k when you include the car and TPA.

NRL need to seriously put a stop to this shit from players and player agents. The shit that Matterson is doing, the NRL should say they won't register any deal worth more money than his Wests contract.

    I understand what you're saying.

But if we're being serious he was the attacking focal point of a team that was just a bees dick from winning the grand final. He had pretty ordinary halves partners and a minimum wage fullback who can't pass. You can't improve individually on a Clive Churchill Medal.

Also. Just go through the team lists from late this season. There are 10+ halves playing NRL who areguably aren't even up to it. Even if you don't like him as a 6 he was a pretty high level fullback by the time he finished there if you want to use the attacking stats.

    2.Holmes
    Get in.

  9. Magic AJ Parker

I feel like signing Holmes is a step backwards for the Cowboys.

Drinkwater has got the potential to be a very good player and the more rounded fullback.

He was probably the best winger in the game when he left but there's no way they're signing him to play on the wing.

Absolute dud signing. He is arguably worth 500k, won't be in the top 8 fullbacks in the comp.

Not sure how much truth there is to it but Matt Moylan would be a very good pick up for the Tigers.

Sharks mad to let him go given their current roster.

  12. Wilson SB Wilson

Mad not to let him go. He’s continually injured and on a squillion. Will Kennedy is going to be sensational as well.

  13. Paddy P Orr

Happy to have him at the Cows.

Yeah Holmes is a good signing even if theyre paying overs.

  15. Lukic L Popovic

We could take superman and we'd find away to have him get a season injury.
If we get Moylan he'll play like 5 games tops.

  16. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

I don't see how Holmes is a good signing. He started his last year in the NRL as his clubs 3rd choice fullback, and then had a 6-8 week purple patch. He is a 500k player.

  17. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

lol hes worth more than 500k. Especially to the Cows who cant score points.

  18. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

Should come back to the Pandas to replace Maloney.

  19. Cribbage RG Cribb

I don't really think putting him at fullback and playing Drinkwater or Clifford in reserve grade will actually improve their ability to score points at all. So in theory that makes him worth less than 0 to them. He would've been a good signing for Brisbane (and yeah at much more than 500k despite Gemmell's spazzing about it) who needed an extra spine player, but the Cows more than anything need outside backs (and perhaps a coach with some faith a young spine). Ironically in Holmes they've signed an awesome outside back but won't be putting him there.

Absolutely awesome news for Queensland which may be clouding your judgement slightly (and yes I realise it's a dick move to respond to a reasonable opinion by telling you that you're biased for no reason, but I couldn't resist :p )

They will definitely be more dangerous with Holmes at 1. Im surprised so many people think otherwise. And yeah i agree they need centres more than anything but its never a bad time to sign (at the time before the departure) the best finisher in the world.
