You're not representing your employer in a public space. What's so difficult about this for you to comprehend? If you get into a fight at work you get fired. If you get into a fight after work you don't, it has nothing to do with the employer and they should not be able to fire you for that. There is a fine line if you're wearing a uniform still because then you are representing your employer. Just as people who put their work up on fbook then get fired for saying stupid things on fbook. But if they don't have their work listed, should they be fired? Your argument of representing your employer then is void.

There is a gray area with famous people like Folau, but why should any contract be allowed to completely regulate what someone says in a public forum? You seem to think companies can make people agree to anything in a contract and then have the right to terminate you whenever they feel like it. A contract has to abide by the law as I've already stated, employees do have rights, and companies cannot fire you without a legally valid reason. There are entire fields of law based just around these lines, it's nowhere near as simple as you are trying to claim because people smarter than you realised that allowing companies to do whatever they want with their employees allows them to use their financial power to turn people into dependent slaves. No contract should have the right to dictate what a person does in his personal life.

Folau no doubt does have pics of him wearing the Aus jersey etc though on ig

In Folau's case, yes he is.

False analogy. He's a high profile personality and he signed a contract agreeing not to bring the game into disrepute.

No, your entire line of argument was void to begin with. Folau is always wearing his "work shirt" in the eyes of the employer. Comparing it to joe blow is fatuous.

It doesn't. It regulates partially what he can say.

Neither said nor implied anything or the sort.

They have a legally valid reason.

Nobody is disputing that employees have rights, you unbelievably stupid person. Nobody is turning Israel Folau into a slave.

Yeah, I think I'll leave this last one just for everybody to see. The naivety and downright stupidity of this comment is too much for my head.

The clear difference between Folau and offenders of more sinister actions who have been allowed back into the game is remorse.

I have no pity for Folau, he chose to have his Instagram set to public and he chose to use that following and brand to make millions off the corporate sector. He fucked over those investors and now they're fucking him over, welcome to the real world.

You can't have it both ways.

But he isn't being banned for not showing remorse. Beattie said he wouldn't allow Folau back in the NRL because it's an inclusive game, and his views don't follow that. So basically, he is saying you can be religious, just don't share it on your instagram. I wonder what would happen if Haas shared a Quran quote that was against gays. Pretty much guarantee nothing would happen, as the Muslim community would explode.

  6. Alec AD Funkotron

I remember reading that all he needed to do was delete the tweet and it would be OK.

  7. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

I don't believe it's legal for an organisation to restrict religious beliefs, which is why they couldn't have it in his contract. Could be wrong, but remember reading that somewhere.

  8. Lukic L Popovic

They're not restricting his beliefs though, just posting about them..

  9. Lukic L Popovic

Gay people seriously need to get over themselves though. Like 2% of the population is gay but they act like they're 50% and act like they've been oppressed like slaves. Fact is if its not a choice, its a genetic defect and incompatible with the continuation of our species.

The fact companies are that concerned about upsetting them is pathetic and that this becomes such a big deal is too.

Meanwhile China colonises Australia and no-one bats an eye.

  10. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

    Religious discrimination.

  11. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

It’s telling that the argument ‘what if a Muslim did it?’ keeps rearing its head. Pathetic. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

  12. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Exactly. It shows how stupid all the shit about Folau is. He did nothing wrong. Unless companies are allowed to sack people over religious beliefs, he is in the right.

People are getting upset that he believes gays go to a make believe place after they die. Who gives a fuck.

  13. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

The power brokers of the game give a fuck. He can condemn people, he can slander institutions, he can deny the holocaust, and he can say the Last Jedi is the best Star Wars movie ever made........but he can’t do it and keep his job. He doesn’t get special exemptions because his bigotry happens to be derived from his religion.

Stop quoting every sentence and debate normally dumb cunt. You've just ignored my point everytime. There is no difference between Folau and joe blow in the eyes of the law, why would think there is?

If Folau is 'always wearing his work shirt' then he is a slave. Stating that he can leave anytime he likes isn't a valid point, I already explained that we have laws restricting what an employer can demand of their employee because the world is not as simple as you want to pretend and people couldn't just leave their livelihoods and find something else. That's why employees gained rights, because they were being abused and companies knew they were dependent. It doesn't matter if Folau isn't, he still has those same rights. Again you will just ignore this point because you can't counter it.

You don't seem to understand double standards either. People post anti-God stuff on social media all the time and nothing happens despite it being offensive to Christians. They are just making up these rules as they go. Folau can post that he believes in the Armenian genocide and nothing happens. Folau cannot post that he doesn't believe in the Holocaust. This is a direct double standard.

If they can do that to Folau, then they can ban you from saying QLDers are superior on Cricsim in the future because doing so is statist supremacy. If you think so what I'll just find work elsewhere, well all companies suddenly have the same exact beliefs and you suddenly find that you almost cannot find work and post about QLD on cricsim. In case you also haven't noticed, Folau's employer has a complete monopoly.

You seem to be living in a dream world where you think everything will just balance out if we just wait. These corporations now own so much of the working force that they have sincere control over people. If you think all of this is about money and 'reputation' you are lost my friend. This is all about control. The NRL didn't gain any money from supporting gay marriage. They were forced to do it under threat of the government and sponsors, hence why all the sporting bodies did it. They actually had to spend quite a lot of money on it. The same is true of Folau. Rugby will have a net loss as Australia is now a weaker team and people will lose interest, but it's not as big of a loss as what they are threatened with.

We have seen countless examples of corporations go against basic principles of profitability and business sense to virtue signal for marginal audiences like homosexuals and transvestites that comprise only a tiny part of their business. Gilette published propaganda against their own male customers, and has since doubled down on it despite the backlash. The NFL now has homosexual cheerleaders. Paypal shuts down people who have the 'wrong opinions'. Target had a massive backlash for supporting tranny bathrooms. Starbucks has mostly white customers yet pushes anti-white propaganda. The list goes on and on and on. It is an agenda. Supporting gays is only about destroying the family unit. It has nothing to do with making money.

Is there a specific piece of legislation that says you can't discriminate on the basis of religion? I was surprised that it wasn't mentioned in the various acts, instead you get:

"In Australia, it is unlawful to discriminate on the basis of a number of protected attributes including age, disability, race, sex, intersex status, gender identity and sexual orientation in certain areas of public life, including education and
employment. Australia's federal anti-discrimination laws are contained in the following legislation

Also if you read what he tweeted, there's nothing overly hateful about it.

If anything he's trying to warn people and save souls from eternal damnation. If you hated people you'd let them just go on their merry way to the hell fire.

  17. Julian BJ Taylor

News to me that Australia has ‘free speech laws’

  18. Magic AJ Parker

I never said he was being banned for not showing remorse, I said it's the reason why he's not being let back into the game unlike players who have done far worse things as you suggested earlier.

It's simple, if he just comes out and acknowledges that the platform he used (which he made a living off) wasn't the right platform to share that kind of material he will 100% be given a second chance somewhere. Undoubtedly for a less attractive offer.

How will he damage the game?

I still don't get why gays, drunks, athiests etc. care. The only people who should give his post a second thought are: Gay Christians, Drunk Christians and... Athiest Christians. See how dumb this is?

It's like a demented Star Wars fan saying you are falling to the Dark Side and need to return to the Light, and being offended at being condemned.

    Exactly. Well said.

  20. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

It’s really not like that example at all. And I think you’re slightly missing the point. It’s not just the people he explicitly condemned who object to it. A lot of people who don’t have a dog in this fight object to it. There are Christians who find it offensive. There are only nominally religious people who do as well. A lot of these people do not want to support a game which they see as tacitly allowing its highest profile player to spew bigotry.

Yeah it would be nice if everyone could just ignore it but that’s not really the world we live in, especially when it comes to younger, more impressionable members of the community.

Should also mention that he’s blatantly expressing bigotry towards some of his own colleagues which isn’t the smartest thing to do either.
