    Referee's putting another clinic tonight.

It’s terrible to watch. I hope Paul Kent and all the other cunts who wanted games reffed like they were in 1985 are happy with this shit.

And that Lewis binning was a joke.

That sin binning was absolutely disgusting.

We're on track for 30 penalties this game.

Don't you love RL where the referees are the focal point instead of the footy? It's great...

Wow a ref actually had the balls to bin Smith. Though I guess Smith will make sure he's fired now.

And he calls that a knock on. Fuck off...

They are destroying this match....And destroying the game.

So funny to hear Anasta and Alexander and Smith back-tracking all their praise for the referees now. Oh and now they want another sin binning.

the Slater one? yeah that was a blatant penalty and he doesn't even blow it. i thought they somewhat ruined last year's final series by not blowing penalties for offside.. obviously they're told to be more lenient during that period but they over did it. now they've gone the opposite in reaction. the refs obviously feel like they don't have enough freedom and do what they're told like robots.

Never been tempted to turn off a game in disgust at the officiating like this...

    Disggusting. Absolutely horrific.

Could you have any more definitive proof that blowing 30 penalties doesn't instill discipline? That last two minutes was a pure and blatant outpouring of frustration from all the players at the excessive penalties.

We've had 75 penalties across three games. That's absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable.

I agree the players have to take some accountability but so do the referees. Their inconsistency in penalties blown is awful and often good line speed is considered offside.

I’ll eat cat food, shave my eye brows and donate $1000 to the NZ government if a game is officiated like that come finals time.

They're making a rod for their own backs. I ask again, how can you ping blokes for being 6 inches offside and still let penalty kick takers walk 5m over the mark?

  14. Wilson SB Wilson

On a different note, the Storm are in all sorts with Brodie Croft at halfback. He still has the potential to become something but at the moment he's a liability.

So it's okay to rubbish Slater for diving in that Lewis incident, which he obviously did, but no one says shit about Segeyaro doing cartwheeles, not once but twice, to milk his team a penalty?

    What exactly is the difference?

  16. Wilson SB Wilson

They've gotta stamp out dummy halves doing that in my opinion. It's awful. The passing of the ball into a playing in the play the ball is forfeiting the ball.

  17. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Yep it’s the same as defenders milking obstruction penalties by falling over from the touch of a feather. Some are 50/50 but ffs the dives by Slater and Segeyaro were blatant. They probably warranted a sin binning more than Lewis and Smith did.

We need this from the refs. I meam it is extreme, but they also need to stop letting teams get away with so much shit. Especially when you have teams like Melbourne involved, they are literally in charge of refs most of the time.

You don't think this is a massive overreaction?

People in favour of this are labouring under a false assumption imo. They think there is an end game where once the players all adapt then we'll be back to 10 penalties a game and it'll all be much cleaner. It's a fantasy. We get back to 10 penalties when the refs start allowing the game to actually be played i.e. more infringements once again. There is no end game for this sort of discretionary officiating. If you want this sort of change it will take several seasons of high penalty counts across all or most games to have any lasting effect. If you're happy with that then fair enough. But you and everyone else favouring it should say that's what you don't mind instead of people, not specifically you in this case, simply saying well stop breaking the rules and you won't get penalised. That's frivolous nonsense.

I think that is a pretty common misconception now. That this was out of control and needed to be fixed. It's created a situation now where I don't know where the middle ground would be.
