What makes you say this? It's not been some sort of Watmough situation where he's worn 11 but played lock anyway - the bloke plays second row every single week, and in fact plays even wider than most second rowers on account of Canterbury's unique structure. I know you think he'd make a better lock but it'd be like me saying Morgan isn't a five-eighth or Dugan isn't a fullback. Fake news.

Morgan and Dugan have several attributes which make them highly suitable to play those respective positions, even if you think overall they're better off elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying Jackson is a crap second rower. Just that there's nothing in his play which fits better into second row than lock.

He's primarily a defensive specialist who relies on good technique, a tenacious attitude and is a toiler/workhorse type. He has little or no link play/ball playing ability. Has little hole running ability. Has average footwork. Has mediocre pace. And isn't physically built like an edge forward.

But yes he plays wide every week and does a serviceable job of it. I attribute that to his aforementioned tenacious defence.

“Darrius (sic) Boyd wouldn’t know what a line break was, if he fell over it on a dark night,” Katter wrote.

Lame as fuck from the typically provincial retard, Katter.

So many dumb cunts that post on facebook about it do my head in. From what I can gather, Slater should be picked because he is faster and breaks the line more.

Loving this post Boob. Living it like that

His rugby league views seem to be as biased and outright crap as his political ones. Not surprised.

    Thurston officially ruled out. Sigh...

Im excited for Milford. Hopefully he's one of those players that Origins transforms into a star

I'm excited for the game because I'm really looking forward to seeing Milford and Napa in Origin (I wouldn't have picked Milford but whatevs), and also Papalii starting on the left. Interested to see how Pearce goes. Same with Hayne, Peats and Tedesco. And just the style of footy each side plays. There's a lot more to stoke the fire than in past series and this time it's both states.

I don't think we'll win though. We're just missing too many important players on top of already lacking strength through the middle. NSW, especially with the recruitment of Sterling and the replacing of Farah, are clearly going to play very direct to break us through the guts. I don't know if we can handle it.

It'll be a big effort if we manage to get up. If NSW can't beat this side, even away from home, they might as well just call off Origin until Smith/Cronk/Thurston retire. They've never had a better chance in the last 11 years.

I'm guessing this means you would've picked Morgan at five-eighth.. but most people I've seen who have argued for that still would've picked Milford on the bench. Who would you have stuck on the bench in place of him? Another running forward? Friend?

So apparently they are planning on playing Frizell on the edge and Jackson up the middle. MF will be happy :p

When I first saw the team it was actually announced like this. They'd been swapped by the time it was 'official' though. Maybe my source came from a secret training run or something.

lol I'd prefer they play him on the edge. He's no real threat. Frizle is.

After ruminating on it for a while I still think Cherry-Evans is the next best and most talented half in QLD, despite his average club form and poor starting performances in the past. I'd have Cronk and DCE with Morgan on the bench.

Part of me thinks Milford could prove a masterstroke but a bigger part of me thinks he's gonna be ineffective. May even get badly found out, who knows. It's going to be very interesting to watch.

    He's already a star....
The next generation QLD great? I'm quietly confident he will, even if it doesn't come to him immediately.

Therein lies his burden. Even now at his young age, if he fails to pull out a match winner or completely dominate a game.....the knives come out pretty quick.

Daley apparently going to use Bird at hooker to relieve Peats.

This is the kind of stupidity that defies belief. We have the best centre in the country and not only do we play him off the bench but we play him in a position that he's never played before once he's come on. That'll do me.

  18. Magic AJ Parker

Jack Bird said Daley's plan for him was to slot into the backrow...

  19. Julian BJ Taylor

Yeah Bird at hooker is a red herring IMO.

Bird should be at centre though, not utility.

  20. Cribbage RG Cribb

Hooker is literally Bird's worst position. The only other candidate would be prop and tbh I think he'd make a better fist of that than hooker.
