I realise we have pool threads with predictions etc. but predictions and betting odds/ value is a little different and understandably some people don't want those threads filled with betting talk and probably easier for us betting folk to see posts relating to the subject matter here (and how everyone's doing)
Posted this in another thread - personally I reckon it's really decent, can get your money back or even profit regardless if the bet wins or not (just 5 or more tries needed)
Ok guys i wanna do top try scorer who shall i bet on? not someone obvious (fave) but maybe someone who is a dark horse for it? cheers
Probably still up there in terms of favourites but Folau at $19 is really good value imo. Milner-skudder was good value at $20 but he's dropped to $10 so not worth it at that in terms of value. Only issue with Folau or any player from the Pool of Death is if they don't make it to the playoffs they miss out on potential games to score tries. For the purposes of the promotion I'll definitely probably go Savea or the like. He'll score a few during pool play out wide so relatively safer to at least score 5 tries than the bets with good value. Will probably put smaller bets on the ones with more value (Folau etc.)
Whoever wins top try scorer will probably score 4 against Uruguay or Namibia or something. The problem is a lot of the best players in the world may simply be rested for those big games. I reckon Henry Speight at $26 is decent, provided we get out of the pool. Otherwise I would look at South African or New Zealand players as they have the most easy teams in their pool to beat up on.
Yeah I'm sort of hoping our lack of left wing depth and Savea needing the form going into the play offs he should at least start one of those games. He's guaranteed to be played vs Argentina and Tonga. I guess in the sense Nehe Milner-skudder is more than likely to start the first 3 games could be an option for some too. Just that drop by $10 is gutting, certainly wouldn't put money on him outside the promotion with that drop.
There's no way Folau will be top try scorer unless he managers to get one every game. He just has to play too many difficult teams where the games will be lucky if there is more than one try scored. he will be great as always no doubt but it doesn't mean he will be scoring the tries.
I certainly wouldn't use him for the promotion but for lower bets he's worth a chance. He scores a lot of Aussie's tries and if he's played against Uruguay he could bag quite a few, even against Fiji as well. Really for the promotion you wanna bet more secure bets as opposed to trying to find good value (ones to return with at least 5 tries first things first). Value ones can be used in smaller bets, well that's what I'm doing. Just stumbled upon this article which is worth a read:
Smith isn't exactly a prolific try scorer, what he has going for him is he'll start the majority of games - just personally don't think he's worth it at $12.
At $34 he's probably worth putting a couple dollars on - you'd really be relying solely on him starting that Uruguay match. Can't see England scoring a heap of tries against Wales or Aus, that'll be a 3 point here and there affair.
Willie le Roux is a solid choice there @20 SA have an easy group and Willie shouldn't be dropped even for the easier matches as he can cover multiple positions
