I don't trust the Poms to play a consistent back line during the opening stages. Risky, but I'll take Wesley Fofana. More likely to play than Rene Labrat anyway... Surely...
Nice pick I may target some of the French later in the draft. I seriously considered the English wingers then remembered one of them is johnny may so decided against it. I am not happy with either of my wingers Milner skudder may not get any starts and he is a gamble but I knew rego would take him shortly. George North plays for a team who play ten man rugby but I figured he will start every game and may get through some tackles if nothing else.
Wales have a very expensive and somewhat ridiculous preparation. They have done high altitude training in Switzerland and then went to Qatar or one of those countries to run around in the sand in 40 degree heat. Why is anyone's question I expect other teams will be less extravagant and do much better.
George North has problems with concussions which is what put me off him. One knock on the head, and he could miss most of the tournament.
Yeah I saw an article about concussion but didn't click on it. What discouraged me from picking him more than anything is that Wales don't run back kicks through their wingers instead they just boot it back to you. Yeah maybe a bad pick but I am not too fussed.
Argh you know me too well. I was looking at picking him up a lil later on. It's still not definite that he'll make the squad, regardless that he should.
Certainly not a bad pick based on what I've seen of him. Given his bulk, they can use him as a bonus forward I guess. Useful at ruck time even if he's not receiving the ball out wide. Not sure what's happened to Wales though, they used to be ball-spreaders rather than kickers. Guess it must be their strength these days?
Their strength is using the size of their backs to break the gainline, they just refuse to do so from within their own half. And the 10 that Gatland wants to use as a flat distributor to use Roberts/Davies/North is Preistland and he keeps falling to pieces. So they play Biggar who is primarily a defensive 10.
About 5 years ago under the same coach they weren't too bad. I was appalled by that England Wales game I saw in the 6 Nations. Wales had this glittering backline and didn't want to use them. Appalling tactics. Still Wales' defence and positional management makes them hard to score against. If they had a 7 who wasn't Warburton they could be a factor. I have Warburton down as the worst number 7 out of the top ten teams. England and France you name it they all have better 7s. Anyway all those insults aside - I still think Wales will be too much for Australia. Or more accurately I don't think australia know what they are doing.
Shall we just give up on this? I declare myself the victor based on my advanced analysis of the picks so far.
Purely based on the fact he'll get plenty of game time: (only 2 HB's in Aus squad) Will Genia Also apologies, was in a location with no signal at all for the last couple of days (thought there would be).
You've even got a 2nd pick to catch up I believe Round 6 Hurricane - George North Heef - Wesley Fofana Howe - Paul O'Connell Weeman - Eben Etzebeth Alex - skipped Rego - Will Genia Vimes - Pascal Papé Round 7 Vimes - Bryan Habana Rego - up Alex - up Weeman - up Howe - Heef - Hurricane -
