    6 months for Flower.

Sounds about right, but given the majority of it will be served in the off-season he's probably a lucky lad.

Quality headlines brought to you by the BBC:

Six months for lunch? Would he have got a year for ruining dinner?

  3. morgieb MC Burridge

    Hahahahahahah.

  4. Mr Chook MR Chook

Noticed Hohaia also got a week for his forearm which started it all.

That should see Flower banned from the sport IMO.

  7. Notsure SM Green

You shouldn't be banned based on the injuries you cause.

  8. AVA T Delonge

You should if you just plain beat the fuck out of someone on the field.

Nah. So if you plain beat the fuck out of someone and they don't get injured what happens? Flower should have been suspended for a lot longer than he was but you can't go back and change it now.

Biggest problem with the judiciary in rugby league IMO.

  12. Julian BJ Taylor

He should have copped way, way more to start with.

But your thinking is flawed IMO. If this was done on the street and the bloke passed away now from the injury, the charges would be changed.

Cunt should be absolutely banned for life simply for the fact he punched an unconscious bloke lying on the ground. I actually think he should have been charged criminally too.

No wonder Hohaia has refused to accept any attempts at an apology.

  15. Furball G Furball

I wouldn't waste my breath apologising if I was in Flower's shoes anyway.

Well to his credit, he does sound genuinely remorseful and contrite about it, but it was one of the worse things I have ever seen on a rugby field in either code...a truly sickening act of thuggery. A lengthy ban from the game...at least 2 years...if not a life ban would have been appropriate. He probably should be charged with GBH tbh.

    What?

Sometimes these things happen in a game, in the heat of the moment people do things they regret," Hohaia, 31, told the BBC, after being knocked out by the punches. "I've done some silly things myself, so I don't hold any regrets against Ben - he's probably disappointed with himself.
"I don't remember the incident - people have been telling me what happened. I don't think the nose is broken, but I'll have a scan on it in the week. I wanted to go back on but the doctor wouldn't let me and obviously my health goes before anything else."

  18. Julian BJ Taylor

He's hardly accepting an apology in those comments

I honestly can't stop laughing at this.

I said, no wonder Hohaia has refused to accept any attempts at an apology.

Flower: “I got Lance’s number from one of the boys at St Helens. I wanted to message him and say, ‘I’m sorry for what I did. Hopefully you can forgive me and hopefully we can catch up one day’. I didn’t hear back but I didn’t expect to because what I did to him was terrible. I didn’t expect anything from him.”
