Seen it now. Really 50:50 on it. One angle looks really bad, the other looks like he's trying to stop

  2. Madness B Morganpola

It was a tricky one and the RFU had to back an inexperienced ref so Hughes was never going to get it rescinded or a token 1 week ban.

    Burgess moves to flanker

    From the BBC:

With Croft, Wood and Haskell as potential #6s for England, any lingering chances of the big fella making a late run for the WC squad are surely gone now.

Could prove his best position in union, although with his bulk, carrying and (largely theoretical so far) offloading skills he could make a #8 if he ever got lineouts sussed.

Come 6 months too late is the main reason he won't be in the WC squad. A modern flanker has 4 jobs - high tackle count, ball carrying, breakdown technique and lineout option. Can't get away with just the first two so he has a fair bit to learn.

I would have liked #8 too but that's just replacing 'lineout option' with 'scrum technique' and the latter could well be harder for all I know. I can't see him being as good as Morgan off the base any time soon.

  5. Fiery GR Smith

Looks the perfect build for a No.8 imo. Would be damaging off the back of a scrum.

  6. Mariner CL Warrington

Finally, common sense prevails. Would still be better as an 8 though, could still happen a bit now

  7. Madness B Morganpola

He seemed to play well tonight, having him back for box kicks seems an easy win, and he's much more involved in the game. Give him a full pre-season away from the RWC squad and let him learn the theory of a back row then give him time and games. 6 may be easier to learn than 8

Would he be good enough to usurp Tom Wood at 6 internationally? Need to consider lineouts as well given we always lift our Flankers

  9. Madness B Morganpola

Not close to on form Tom Wood but he hasnt been on form for 18 months or so

Without an inform 6 I'd like to see

    Robshaw 6, Kvesic 7, Vunipola/Morgan 8

  10. Howe JHF Howe

    Kvesic is wildly overrated.

I don't see much of the Prem nowadays, but I think he's leading the stats in tackles and turnovers.

    Rate him, myself.

  12. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Yeah I agree. Which is why I was hoping he'd come good at 12, an area we have yet to properly fill

  13. Madness B Morganpola

You just know they won't give Eastmond a chance and so 12T will stick there until the world cup and then spectacularly fuck up vs Aus or Wales and Farrell will step in for the rest of the RWC!!

  14. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

I actually really enjoyed 12T in his role coming off the bench to solidify at the end of tight matches. I'd take him to the WC just for that role

  15. Madness B Morganpola

He's just so frustrating at times, got everything you need to be a class centre but not the top 2 inches. Almost the antithesis of Greenwood.

Guy Armitage signed for London Welsh for next season. Seems to me that he's had such a nearly career - did he actually ever get going with Irish? Considering the success his brothers have had playing in the top 2 tiers, abroad and internationally it must be really frustrating for him

Someone explain the significance of what Wasps have announced today please.

  18. Madness B Morganpola

Wasps now richer than Toulon and are announcing some future signings next week! Coventry or south of France! All the New Zealanders are rubbing their hands together at the thought of not having to spend time on the beach or buying sun cream!

Good games coming up this weekend to decide the Top 4.

Quins vs Bath - Last home games for a couple of quins vs Bath in top form
The E mids derby - Wasps to hopefully knock Leicester over
Sarries vs Exeter - end of the Exeter top 4 push

  20. Howe JHF Howe

That is already a thing. Wasptrotters not needed

    Tasty fixture, I agree.
