I have no clue why this is happening, thought it was an April fool at first tbh. Might actually go and have a watch for once, will need to pop over to Headingley while I'm in Leeds

    How's Burgess going?

Who'd have thought a pom and bath shouldn't go together?

  4. Howe JHF Howe

Been ordinary. Hindsight suggests he should have been an 8 rather than 12

  5. Benny BS Read

Given he was conclusively better in the middle third throughout his last few seasons would have made that obvious

Yeah Burgess had a go at the closest rugby league equivalent of 12 (edge forward) and he wasn't bad but he wasn't near as good as he was elsewhere.

I kinda expected Burgess would be a bit of a bust in union, it's just not a game where a league forward can easily convert to. Unless your name is Brad Thorn.

    Or Sonny Bill Williams.

    Or Rocky Elsom.

  9. Fiery GR Smith

Brad Thorn, SBW and Israel Falou made pretty good fists of converting.

Williams is slightly different to Burgess in that he has more firepower and pace, IIRC he's often played in the backline in union, rather than in the forwards, so I dunno if he counts like Thorn did.

Did Elsom ever play FG league?

  11. Fiery GR Smith

Always. Can't recall ever seeing him play in the forwards.

Not sure; had a couple of seasons at the Dogs early on. Dunno if he played NRL though.

No. But he won a Jersey Flegg Cup premiership in 2001.

Nah Elsom never played fg. Used to play with Josh Cale who won premier league player for the dogs in early mid 00's and he was stuck behind their bevy of forwards along with elsom during their cap rotting era

Thorn's actually probably the only player to have been a world class forward in both codes, now I think about it.

Andy Farrell play any forwards in rara?

  17. Howe JHF Howe

Farrell infamously played back row for Saracens while England were telling them to play him at centre.

It's a bit of a moot point as he generally sucked in Union
