Rule 1. For Season 3 the rule for getting line-ups in will be that line-ups must be submitted within 24 hours after the injuries and suspensions from the last game of the round are posted. Example Round 1 Game 1 - Thurs 12pm Round 1 Game 2 - Friday 12pm Injuries/Suspensions - Friday 1pm Line-ups must be in by Saturday 1pm Most of the time I will likely to do the games for the round back-to-back anyway , however that may not always be possible to do. I allowed for a fairly lengthy pre-season to allow teams to have a look at their players and tactics with post counts coming into effect, so really by now you should have a good idea of what your 1st XI is going to look like. Ideally I would like to do 2 rounds per week, but I won't be able to do that if there are not line-ups there to use. There have been a few occasions during the pre-season I've had time to sim games but there haven't been line-ups. Teams not being bothered to submit line-ups also does remove a motivation for me to bother simming. Rule 2. There shall be punishments, through docked points, for teams that do not meet the deadlines. I am not going to be crazy and just dock points for a first offense or anything like that. People will get a warning first. However, at the end of last season I did say to teams that as well as the President they should appoint someone else to be involved in selection, even if it is just to act as cover. So far that doesn't really seem to have happened. Rule 3. All 1st XI line-ups are to be the best possible line-up for that round. This is to stop teams dropping 1st XI players down to reserves to secure their reserves a better position. Obviously teams are likely to have 11 players who have cemented 1st XI places, so I may feel one fringe player is stronger but the selector feels a different fringe player is stronger and that is fine.
Wrt rule 3: What about "resting" key players for more important matches? e.g 1st and 2nd are separated by 1 point and 2nd play last the week before they play 1st. Could they rest their 2 best players in this match to avoid them getting injured before the big match?
Yeah I had thought about this. I am for resting as it realistic. However, I don't want them then playing in the reserves. So a filler would have be used, which I wasn't all keen for. Unless they have over 22 players obviously. On that I'm prepared to really go with the general opinion. Interested to hear others opinions.
If you're resting a player to avoid injuries, making him available for reserves really doesn't make sense
There weren't injuries or suspensions in reserve games last season though. Although given we have a bigger play base this season I may not keep that in place. As there are plenty of free agents people could sign, even if it is just to add to their squad numbers for reserves.
Randomly assign the unsigned players to a filler pool for each team with each player automatically assigned 0 post count. Then bring in reserve team injuries. Double bonus of encouraging teams to sign at least 22 players, and also allows you to bring in reserve team injuries.
We don't yet have 22, and I am working on it. I'm fairly confident we'll have 22 soon into the season if not by season's start.
I just think it'd kind of suck to get rested, as a player. And you don't want people to try and hedge out of the flack by saying their team wasn't at full strength. So a no from me.
Because the chance of getting injured during a football match is much higher. If the sim reflects this than resting should be allowed fmpov.
Well there are 2 ways to get injured on this, whereas I think there is only 1 for CricSim. You can get injured in game and "training" injuries. Plus you can get suspended on this sim which you can't in CricSim. IIRC you can rest players in SR. Which is far more comparable IMO.
Much higher chance of getting a serious injury in football too. Cricket injuries tend to be a result of repetitive strain, which can be sorted between series, or muscle injuries. See much less ligament or breaks which can put you out for a season
