    BANNERMAN SHIELD

Status: First Class, 5 day games
Teams: Franchise First XIs - 9 (Sticky Wickets, Cyclones, Crusaders, Pumas, Ravens, Allstars, Vipers, Stingrays, Gamblers)
    Rounds: 18
Final System: Top 3 (Semi Final and Final)
    Venues: Club home grounds

    Selection Rules:

    - Note the previously announced Season 12 changes
    - A wicket keeper must be selected for each game, even if he is uncontracted.
    - With the exception of the wicket keeper rule, uncontracted players will not be available for selection.
    - The best team available, in the opinion of the CoS, must be selected for each game.
    - Perceived activity may be used as a way for selectors to determine quality and improvement. However selectors should not be looking to reward activity for the sake of it; it should merely be used as a tool in predicting likely performance.
    - As an exception to the best team rule, emerging players are allowed to be held back for the good of their long-term development, to a reasonable extent.

    - There are no advantages to holding back a developing player from one day cricket, so it is not accepted.

    - As an exception to the best team rule, emerging players are allowed to be held back for the good of their long-term development, to a reasonable extent.

The above selection rules also apply to State of Origin (New South Wales v Queensland), the Borisc Trophy (Victoria v Asia) and the Jae Taylor Challenge (Britain v New Zealand), all played as independent three game series.

    PCDIY CUP

Status: Second Class, 5 day games
Teams: Provincial Second XIs and Emerging Provinces - 8 (NSW City A, NSW Country A, Queensland A, Victoria A, Britain A, New Zealand A, Asia A, Celtic Provinces)
    Rounds: 14
Final System: Top 3 (Semi Final and Final)
Venues: CribbSim Complex - neutral venues

    Selection Rules:

    - Note the previously announced Season 12 changes
    - Players selected in the Provincial Championship for corresponding fixtures are not available for selection.
    - In the event that a team has a bye in the Provincial Championship, players from that team who have played more Provincial Championship matches throughout the season than PCDIY Cup matches are not available for selection.
    - A wicket keeper must be selected for each game, even if he is uncontracted.
    - Uncontracted players are available for selection, and may be selected ahead of inactive contracted players.
    - This is a developmental competition. It is beneficial for talented players to play in this competition early in their careers.
    - Selectors are encouraged to pick players within striking distance of the first XI primarily, and then pick the rest of the side based on future potential. New, active players are encouraged to be selected ahead of those unlikely to ever be good enough for Provincial Championship level. This point has been bolded as it's a significant and previously unannounced change.

Okay I've unlocked this now. Feel free to comment/question etc.

Does OD cricket contain past performances?

  12. Cribbage RG Cribb

Past performance can/should be used as a guide to see how naturally talented someone is at one day cricket, but it doesn't shape their ability in the future like FD cricket does. There are offsets so it's definitely not just all activity/swpr/role and performance is the best way for you guys to see what these offsets are doing, but if you've just fluked shuntiness it won't make you shuntier in the future, unlike the 5 day stuff.

Basically though, summary of the changes:

    - You have to pick a specialist wicket keeper no matter what, even if you have to use your uncontracted players to do it
    - You can picked unsigned cunts over inactive cunts in Second XI games if you like
    - You can pick unsigned cunts over anyone in provincial games if you like
    - PCDIY Cup is now vastly different and selectors of it need to read the post about it and really think about what they're doing

Just noticed CP have been dropped from the RT.

  15. Cribbage RG Cribb

Nah that was an accident, will fix it. :p

  16. Callum CJ Laing

I noticed you changed Britain A to England A. Should it not just be England? Just so you have it all proper and that.

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

I guess. :p Just seems weird though that it'll basically be exactly what the England A team would've been if England had a side in the PC, save maybe one player.

  18. Cribbage RG Cribb

I'll just change it back to Britain A. The fact that some of their players will be playing for Celtic Provinces is the same as how Paddy will play for Celtic Provinces if he gets dropped for the Queensland side.

Why are ALC games played at neutral venues?

  20. Mousey AJ Son

So ALC players are free develop at the same rate as each other, under the same conditions. Means you don't get fucked over early in your career by being a spinner who bowls on a road or something.
