Dafter - Morris - McGrath, maybe? Having Dafter & Morris who are prime front rowers will ensure that McGrath isn't totally embarassed.
I wonder how you would go at prop Callum... I reckon being able to put eddie at hooker would be good.
Well my secondary position is hooker and Eddie's joint secondary position is prop so it makes way more sense to do it that way round. Otherwise I would be better off playing at flanker and bringing someone else in it at prop IMO.
I always thought the percentage was just what percentage of that skill set are carried over to combine in making your player. So someone with really low i.e eddie 15% prop is still going to be fairly useless at prop. The pros of having him at hooker a 50% skill difference between him and Callum is far greater than the pros of him playing prop which is only 15% more than your average filler you could put there? Am I on the right track?
That would be telling. Basically, in the sim there are no "positions" as such, but your registration goes towards determining the skill set you'll have. i.e. 85% hooker, 15% prop will mean your skills will be 85% what makes a hooker and 15% what makes a prop. Obviously, there's a lot of shared skills between hooker and prop anyway, so it's up to selectors to decide whether that would make that player an adequate prop, or whether to leave 'em at hooker.
For my money, a pack of 1) C Laing 2) EI Morris 3) DG Dafter 4) J McDougal 5) JE McGrath 6) SDR Laing 7) S Verigotta 8) M Deane is probably best
So would Verigotta. I would basically bank on your hooker skills combined with your flanker skills making you at least a reasonable open play prop, and obviously you would still be able to bring a lot to the breakdown from there. With a big gap left in the backrow, one of the locks ie. McGrath and Verigotta would have to move (although I could also be moved I guess). Favoured veri over McGrath as McGrath is a lineout focused lock, whereas veri has a lot of metre making in him...
Well when Eds picks me at prop now and I epically fail it is on you! On what you are suggesting I reckon I would be better playing at flanker and Veri playing at lock and have someone else playing at prop. I reckon we would be better to play our best players where they are strongest and fit someone else in out of position than have 3 weak/weaker options playing in our scrum.
This way gets Eddie to play hooker, me at lock and Deane at 8, the three big players in the GB pack tbh... Jamming McGrath at prop is a surefire way to lose out on the scrummaging, a lineout lock is not going to be much use IMO. Most other GB pack players are dire...
Not underrating. I think you can do your job from anywhere in the pack. I think my way would prevent sacrifice on scrummaging. Obviously its all just speculation though. Eds' call.
